A somewhat similar thing happened to me. I lost a client over an article I wrote an article about how the Nazis were Leftists
This has nothing to do with the legal services I was going to provide him. In fact, it is the only historical writing I’ve ever done. I wrote it basically on a whim to counter all the misinformation on Twitter, especially from the Princeton history department.
I knew it would probably be a little controversial. But what was so infuriating was the guy refused to actually read it. In a mind-numbing email exchange I literally begged him to read it. Six times I asked him and he refused. It really sucked losing the client as I had courted him for nine months.
The piece has become so popular I’m afraid it will end permanently be on the first page of my Google search. I’ve thought about deleting it.
In the end you can only be who you are. All that work was wasted. But as I told him, I stand by every word.
It’s better to die like a man than live like a coward.
